Simplicity of Parkour

Today I found this vid from what of my favorite freerunners Kelan.

And I saw this comment:

And I 100% agree.

This vid is meditative.

It reminds me of my own parkour training for the past 18 years.

This way, is not just about doing the biggest trick, the craziest drop, or the biggest roof gap.

But the simplicity of exploring the human body in relation to the environment.

And connecting each movement in a way the doesn’t stop the momentum.

So much respect to Kelan for continuing the craft,

And this inspires me to go out and train again.

And look at the dense archive of clips from my training too.

While I’ve been busy learning so much about colonialism, politics, AI decolonial theory, and more..

Learning to navigate the terrors we’re experiencing in the US..

After the grieving, the strategizing, and the integrating..

I feel like I’ve reached a point where I can allow myself to nurture my creativity and joy back into my movement practice again.

“Joy is resistance.”

I didn’t know how to access that at all for the past few months.

But this helped me get a get closer to that.

Cheers
